景色としては、この日が一番印象深い。
This was the best scenic day.


この島の天気はよく変わった。朝と晩で天気が違う。
例えば4日目。朝は思い切り雨が降った。
ヒグマの生息地に着くと流れる川の向こうでスゲを食べるクマを大雨の中双眼鏡で観察。
クマは雨が降ろうがおかまいなし、草原でまどろみはじめた。
The weather on this island is unstable. It changed frequently.
The day 4, it rained heavily in the morning; we observed a male bear which was eating sedges across the river. He didn’t care about the rain at all and he seemed to be relaxed in the grass.

そのクマの対岸で例のピーナツバターのランチを終えると、途端に晴れだした。
そろそろ行きますか〜とヒグマの生息エリアを歩きまわり、高層湿原に出ると、そこはこれぞアラスカじゃという景色が広がっていた。　
足元はツルコケモモやらイソツツジ、シャクナゲ、ガンコウラン、、、知床で見かける植物の仲間ばかり！！（ガンコウランはまったく同じでしたが、他のは種違いでした）
こんなの踏みつけたらかわいそうだと罪悪感でいっぱいになりながら、それでもワクワクで歩いた。
After we had the peanuts butter lunch across from him, it turned out to be sunny in the afternoon. We walked the bear habitat and finally walked into a high moor. I found the beautiful scenery which told “This is what Alaska looks like.”
Alpine plants are all around us, I felt guilty when I made a step on the marshy ground.
Some of the plants are familiar to which we can find in Shiretoko. I was so excited!
青い空に白い山、針葉樹の深緑、、、これがアラスカじゃ〜〜　
Blue sky, snow-crowned mountains, the evergreen conifers,,, This is what I expected to.

景色に感動しながら歩き回った私。
I was so moved that I walked around and took many pictures.

最後にパチリ、In the end I took my finger’s picture.

わたしの手は、このパドルカバーに守られていた。
あのアクシデント以来、このパドルカバーをつけて動き回っていたのだ。
この姿に、参加者たちはかなりウケていたらしい。
My hands are protected by this paddle case. Later, I heard that other participants amused at this.
